For those who are wondering at the results and their implications, Naviaux’s study in a nutshell states that the cells of ME patients are in a sort of protective hibernation, limiting their consumption of resources and engaging in a hypometabolic state as a response to infection or other stressors. By examining patients’ metabolites in detail, it was found that this degree of protective hibernation correlates directly to clinical severity.

The LENS- Personally, I was intrigued and fascinated by the idea of a LENS treatment; something that seems so simple that can be helpful for many different things. I was nervous, excited, and hopeful to see some improvement in my emotional health, as I do not suffer from any health complications but I do have some anxiety and occasional irritability (mostly by accident, taken out on my boyfriend—poor guy!) and it was said that LENS could be helpful in the emotional department.
