To Our Patients Regarding Lab Tests and Results

With rare exceptions, results for all lab tests requested by our office are received within 3 weeks from the time the lab receives the specimen.

Therefore, we ask that you, our patient, schedule an appointment now, to see your doctor three (3) weeks or more after

  • a) you have blood drawn here
  • b) you plan to go to your local lab
  • c) you plan to mail your specimen with the kit we have given you

If you do not know when you will be getting the test done and must wait to schedule an appointment at a later date, please tell the receptionist which lab you went to, or mailed your specimen to, when you do make the appointment.

Please be aware, if you wait too long to complete your test and then cancel your appointment, you must notify us at least 48 hours in advance to avoid being charged for the appointment. There are usually many other issues to be discussed with the doctor at an appointment even if your lab results have not yet been received.

Please do not call our office for the results, as only the doctors can interpret your lab results; staff will be unable to discuss results with you. You must have an appointment with the doctor to discuss the results, even if it is a brief phone appointment. If there are any urgent abnormalities the doctor is notified and we will contact you.

Following the instructions above will assure that your lab results are ready for your upcoming appointment. We are unable to respond to most inquiries regarding receipt of lab results. If lab results are crucial for your appointment, please email your inquiry to labs@gordonmedical.com.

When going to a lab other than Quest Diagnostics, it is helpful to bring their attention to our Fax number on the requisition form, and ask them to Fax us your results. Our labs Fax number is 707.575.4422.

If you receive lab results directly from the lab, please do not be alarmed if they show anything out of the normal ranges. Conversely, just because everything is within the "normal" range does not mean that you and the doctor will not need to discuss any possible implications. Again: if there are any urgent abnormalities we will contact you.

Reminder: If you leave a message on our voice mail or with one of our staff, please do not call, email or fax us regarding the same issue again for at least 48 hours unless it is an emergency. It may take us that long to get back to you.

Thank you for honoring our requests. We will do our best to serve your health care needs.
