JUNK SCIENCE OR JUNK BLOG?

We are, and always will be, grateful to Dr. Shoemaker for his groundbreaking efforts to single-handedly bring to light the important and under appreciated subject of biotoxicity, especially mold toxicity. His grasp of the biotoxin pathway and the clarity it brings to our understanding these illnesses has brought healing to thousands of suffering patients.

But, like all new findings, this information does not yet constitute a “science”. It is a preliminary process in the understanding of a very important cause of illness, but to imagine that it has achieved the status of a “science” is a considerable overstatement. [Read more…]

Use Breathing To Improve Your Health

Julie GalvanBy Julie Galvan, CMT

I often take time with many of my patients to watch them breath. It is the basis of life, after all. What’s that saying… you can go without food for a month, you can go without water for 7 days, but you can only go without breathing for 3 minutes before your brain begins to die. We breath 20,000 times a day! It makes sense to me if I’m doing something 20,000 times a day, I’d like to be know more about it, and feel like I can have an impact on something that is so important. Right!?

How does good breathing benefit those of you with chronic complex diseases? One of the biggest problems with being chronically ill is not being able to get enough movement into your daily life. This can cause a significant amount of stagnation in lymph and blood flow. Did you know that breathing deeply brings more oxygen into the blood, as well as improving lymph flow? It also happens to be the best massage for your digestive system there is… and you don’t have to travel or pay money for it! [Read more…]

Exercise and Reconditioning During CFS/Fibromyalgia (and Lyme!) Treatment

Exercise and Reconditioning During CFS/Fibromyalgia Treatment
By Jacob Teitelbaum, MD

Dr. Teitelbaum has us given permission to reprint information from his website. While that website is focused on treating CFS and Fibromyalgia, Dr. Teitelbaum considers Lyme disease to be a factor in both illnesses, and the information he gives is often useful in treating Lyme disease as well.

Dear Readers,

When being treated for any debilitating illness, reconditioning is a critical part of getting well. Because of the body wide “energy crisis” seen in CFS/Fibromyalgia, most of you have found that you were unable to condition beyond a certain point (it takes energy to store energy in muscles—which is what conditioning is). Instead, the doctor would push you to exercise, and you would spend the next 2 days in bed feeling like you had been hit by a truck!

The good news is that as you do our proven effective “SHINE Protocol” (Sleep, Hormones, Infections, Nutrition, and Exercise AS ABLE—discussed at length in my book “From Fatigued to Fantastic!”), you will find that your body starts making the energy needed to condition. You will then be able to exercise more and more—and it will actually leave you feeling better and stronger. [Read more…]
