On this last tip, again, it is equally as important for many chronically ill patients. In addition to trapping allergens, carpet off gasses a wide variety of toxic chemicals, as will most carpet pads and any glue used to hold the carpet down. Some carpets take years to outgas. If you have a carpet that you are unable to remove, remember Tip #1. Open all your windows at least once a week to let your air be refreshed and cleaned. Maybe go with Tip #9, and get a plant or two for the room. If you do remove the carpet, you can still put natural fiber area rugs down, that can be taken out and cleaned regularly.
