Last November I was blessed to spend a weekend with one of the world’s top herbalists, Stephen Buhner. He is an extraordinary man, fabulous story teller and brilliant in his field of herbalism. Everything he writes is backed by research.
Basic wisdom imparted that weekend included many clinical pearls. Some of my favorites are that Bacteria are sentient beings, have been around the planet for 3.5 billion years and are not going anywhere. (See Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm: Beyond the Doors of Perception into the Dreaming of Earth.) As they are sentient, it is important to develop a relationship with them. We can communicate with bacteria. Their intelligence is astounding as they can communicate and exchange genetic information with other bugs and adapt according to that information. What is so fantastic about herbs is that, as plants, they adapt to the changes in the bugs. The bugs do not develop resistance to the herbs as a result. [Read more…]
